Located on the northern coast of Tenerife, this spot is a must-see in the region.

What to See from the Mirador de La Garañona
The Mirador de La Garañona in Tenerife offers unobstructed views over the Atlantic Ocean and the Garañona beach, also known as El Arenal beach. It’s just one of the many volcanic black sand beaches this island has to offer. On clear days, which are nearly every day here, you can see Callao de los Parrales and the coast of Tacoronte. With a bit of luck and calm seas, you might even spot the silhouette of the DC-3 aircraft from Spantax, which made an emergency water landing off the coast of El Sauzal in 1966.
Activities to Enjoy Near the Mirador
During your visit to the Mirador de La Garañona, you’ll likely work up an appetite and feel like trying some traditional Tenerife food. Don’t worry – there are a few dining options in El Sauzal, just a short walk from the viewpoint, and there’s also a café right next to it.
Take the opportunity to visit the town’s old quarter and enjoy a stroll around the area. This will also allow you to take in more spectacular views of the sea.
Another point of interest is the Parque de los Lavaderos, a picturesque spot filled with plants and fountains, also offering views of Mount Teide. Wine lovers should consider visiting some of the local wineries in El Sauzal, or even the Casa del Vino, a former estate now housing the Museum of Wine and Vineyards of Tenerife. This is undoubtedly a fascinating addition to your visit to the Mirador de La Garañona.
How to Get to the Mirador de La Garañona
You won’t have any trouble getting to the Mirador de La Garañona, as it’s well sign-posted from the centre of El Sauzal. From Puerto de La Cruz, it also takes about 15 minutes and from Mount Teide, located in the heart of the island, your drive will take just over an hour.
